Finance 2018/19

Our financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March. We agree an annual budget in January each year and also decide how much the annual Precept* should be set at.  As a smaller authority with an income of less than £25,000 in the financial year we can certify ourselves exempt from a limited assurance review under Section 9 of the Local Audit (Smaller Authorities) Regulations 2015.  At the Parish Council Meeting on Tuesday 11th June 2019, the Council agreed to certify itself as exempt and Cllr Cromley signed the Certificate of Exemption – AGAR 2018/19 Part 2 which has been submitted to PKF Littlejohn.

*Parish Councils are empowered to raise money for their activities through a tax (the Precept) on the village residents which is collected on their behalf by the District Council, as an addition to the District and County Council Tax. This is then paid to the Parish Council in two equal instalments.
